This guide will show you how to use the Recall Functionality in your Shopify quiz. It allows you to show a user’s answer from an earlier question in a later one, using a unique Question ID. This helps you make your quiz feel more natural and personal.
Example:
If you ask for the user’s name in the first question, you can later ask:
“[[firstname]], what kind of products are you looking for today?”
It’s an easy way to create a friendly and engaging experience. Let’s get started!
1. Go to the question which answer you want to use later
Go to your quiz editor and click on the question where the user will enter the answer you want to use later — for example, a name type question like “What’s your name?”
2. Find the Question ID
On the right side of the screen, where the question settings are located, find the option called Question ID.
By default, it looks like question1, question2, etc. You can keep it as is, or rename it to something more clear, like firstname.

3. Use the ID in a later question
Go to the question where you want to display the user’s answer. In the question title, insert the ID using double square brackets.

Example:
If your Question ID is firstname, write something like:
“Nice to meet you, [[firstname]]! What are you looking for today?”
When users take the quiz, they’ll see:
“Nice to meet you, Sarah! What are you looking for today?”
